NIH Study: What the Science Shows
In 2022, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released a landmark study linking chemical hair straighteners to uterine cancer.
The study, part of the Sister Study that involved more than 33,000 women over 11 years, found that:
- Women who used hair straightening products more than four times per year were more than twice as likely to develop uterine cancer than those who did not.
